advise for emailing your resume to jobs on line
Tips for applying to jobs on line
In the current job market there are many applicants for every job listed on line, on any of the job boards or craigslist or any other site. I recently posted a position for a Receptionist at a Chiropractic office, within one week I received over 600 resumes. So, if you want your resume to be considered, it is best to write a brief cover letter with your resume or resume attachment. When an employer receives so many resumes it is overwhelming. The employer may not have enough time to look at all those resumes. Any resume sent, seemingly without much effort on the part of the applicant, may not even be looked at. Take the time to send a brief cover letter stating your interest and qualifications for the position. Keep it brief though, again, the employer is usually too busy to read lengthy responses to the ad. If your cover letter is too long that may not get read either.
Of the 600 hundred resumes I received, 25 had an attachment titled “resume”. Give your attachment a unique name so that it is less likely to get lost or overwritten.
